I was already in a decent mood and figured this would be a quick stop since the website said the brake pads were available at my local store. Drove all the way over, only for the guy to tell me they didn’t have any and had no idea when more would come in. Frustrating and just felt like a waste of my time.

"Pretty decent, but pricing felt a little unclear"
I used Pep Boys to look up brake service prices and set up an appointment. Overall, it was fine, but I felt like the full cost wasn’t really obvious right away. I’m not 100% sure if I missed something on the site, but some extra fees or add-ons seemed to become clearer closer to the end of booking. The actual shop visit went okay and I didn’t have any major complaints about the service. It was just a little frustrating thinking it would be one price and then seeing it change a bit. Not a bad experience, but I think the pricing could be shown more upfront

"Pep Boys Is Just Too Out of the Way"
The nearest Pep Boys is far out of my way, and it makes even simple car stuff feel like a whole trip. Trying to get there after work is a hassle, so I usually end up putting it off. That part was weird because something that should be quick turns into this big errand.

I booked a wheel alignment through pepboys.com, and the whole setup was easy. I dropped the car off and they did get it done the same day, which I appreciated, but I’ll admit I got a little frustrated waiting around longer than I expected. My car had been pulling to the right, and now it drives straight again, so the actual work was done right. Price seemed fair, and the guys at the shop were friendly enough. Overall, I’d probably use them again, just wish the wait had been a bit better.

"Fixed in the End, But More Stressful Than Expected"
They did eventually fix the issue, so I’ll give them credit for that. But the whole process took way longer than I expected and added a lot of unnecessary stress. I kept thinking it would be wrapped up quickly, but it just dragged on. Glad it’s handled now, but I wish it had been smoother.

"Brake service was more hassle than I expected"
I went to Pep Boys to get my brakes done, the experience was just okay. They ended up keeping my car longer than they originally told me, which threw off my day a bit. Then at checkout, the price was a little different than what I was expecting. The brakes do work fine now, so at least that part was handled, but overall it felt kind of disorganized. Personally, I don’t think it was worth the hassle, and I’d probably look somewhere else next time.

"Liars and Con Artists"
The manager of this store is a con-artist. We phoned ahead for specific tires and were told they were in stock, drove 45 minutes, only to be told they didn't have the tires, and then that we should buy more expensive tires, lower miles, because all tires rot out after 3 years so buying higher mileage tires is pointless. All of this was said to me, a woman, while my boyfriend hung in the back. At which point, my BF told the guy in no uncertain terms that he had wasted our time, was lying through his teeth, and was a complete buttwipe. The guy then threatened to call the police because he is more than willing to setup the scam but doesn't want to deal with somebody calling him on being a scumbag. Corporate was contacted regarding this experience, which lost PepBoys $800 and a lifetime of additional business, as I "shared" with all of my facebook and nextdoor friends so they wouldn't drive out of their way in order to be conned into buying more expensive tires by a liar. However, it needs to be said that if PepBoys employs such a person, as a manager, that its hard to believe that they aren't dishonest in other ways.

I went in for an emissions test it was okay overall. They got it done, but the wait ended up being longer than what they told me. The staff was fine, not overly friendly or anything, but no real issues. Price seemed reasonable too...

"Inspection Felt a Bit Rushed"
I brought my car in for an inspection the other day, right before I had to run a couple errands and pick up groceries, so I was already trying to keep things moving. The inspection itself felt kind of rushed, and they ended up missing a bad tire that really should’ve been caught. I still got charged for it, which was frustrating. Just didn’t feel like the most thorough experience.

I got checked in quickly, and they ended up finishing sooner than I expected. The waiting area was comfortable enough, nothing fancy, but perfectly fine. Overall, I was happy with how smooth it went and appreciated not having to sit around too long.

"Nice staff, but the fix didn’t last"
I took my car to Pep Boys for a repair, and from what I remember, the staff was friendly and easy enough to deal with. I don’t remember all the details of what they said was done, but I do remember the same problem coming back just a few days later. Ended up having to take it to another shop to get it sorted out. Nice people, but the repair itself didn’t really hold up.

"Good service, but the upselling wore me down a bit"
I got my oil change done at Pep Boys and, the actual service was totally fine. The staff was friendly enough, and I didn’t have to wait too long, so I left feeling like the basic job was handled well. The only thing that kind of bothered me was how much they tried to sell me extra services I hadn’t planned on. I understand they’re just doing their job, but after a while it made me feel a little pressured instead of relaxed. Overall it was a decent visit, and I’d probably go back, I just wish there was less of that sales push.
